The actress, who split from Pitt in 2005 amid rumoursthat he had grown close to current partner Angelina Joliewhilst filming 'Mr and Mrs Smith', is said to have contactedher ex to let him know about 15-year-old Norman's death.

"When Jennifer emailed Brad to tell him Norman haddied, he shed a tear. Norman was with them all through theirmarriage and Brad loved him. He knew Jen would beinconsolable, so he gave her a call.

"He'd like to buy her another puppy but he wants towait until she's mourned Norman properly," the source said.
