Los Angeles: Hollywood superstars Jennifer Aniston, Liv Tyler and Anne Hathaway are among the celebrities who have been swindled in a credit card fraud led by a beautician.

Maria Gabriella Perez, one of the leading beauty experts in Hollywood has been arrested on suspicion of ripping off her celebrity clients.

Salon owner Maria Gabriella Perez is accused of taking credit card information from her A-list clients and ringing up hundreds of thousands of dollars in bogus charges. Secret service agents arrested the 51-year-old at her Beverly Hills salon, Chez Gabriela Studio, today, reported TMZ.

She has been charged with two counts of fraud and faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years if she is convicted.

Perez, whose website also lists Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz amongst her clientele, is accused of "fraudulently charging approximately US$ 280,000 worth of charges in a one year period", reported the website.

According to an affidavit filed in the United States District Court, the beautician swindled around US$ 214,000 from Tyler alone over a five-month period last year. Other clients, such as Aniston, Cher and Anne Hathaway, who have noticed similar bogus charges on their credit cards.
