A campaign 'Buy Life', on the upcoming World AIDS Day,will see many celebrities stay away from social networkingsites Facebook and Twitter.

They will remain away for one whole day until their fansdonate up to $1 million for the cause, reported New YorkTimes.

"Kim Kardashian is DEAD," reads the text in the advert,accompanied by the star's photo featuring in a low-cutsequined burial outfit suggesting she "died" after a nightout.

"Kim sacrificed her digital life to give real life tomillions of others," it reads, asking fans to "visitBuylife.org or text 'KIM' to 90999 to buy her life now."

Other participants include David LaChapelle, JustinTimberlake, Usher, Serena Williams and Elijah Wood, who arebelieved to have nearly 29 million fans on Twitter alone.

"Come on, y'all," actress Jennifer Hudson says in avideotaped plea. "Buy my life back. Go on a shopping spree andbuy as much of it as you can."

The initiative is a part of singer-songwriter AliciaKeys' charity 'Keep a Child Alive' which helps children andfamilies affected by HIV and AIDS in Africa and India.

"It's really exciting. No foundation has used thetechnology before like we are," the 29-year-old R&B star said.

The strategy is not to shock people into paying attentionbut to enable them to give by doing, "what you always do,"Keys added.
