New York designers and fashionistas are buzzing about the upcoming royal wedding, and the hottest topic of all is Kate Middleton's wedding attire.

"She's changing the rules," explains celeb fave Michael Kors. "I think that when someone who really has style and taste, who's in the public eye, it's always great. When Mrs. Obama wore Michael Kors for her portrait, you know for me of course I was very flattered, I thought she looked amazing and I think Kate Middleton's a new kind of princess."

"Project Runway's" Tim Gunn hopes Kate gets to show off her individual style on her big day.
"We have in Kate Middleton someone who really knows who she is fashion-wise now and is making considerable statements. So I just hope that the royal family let's her be who she is and doesn't try to in any way mold her or shape her into their own image if you know what I mean. Kate stay away from Princess Anne!" said Gunn.

Marchesa's British design duo Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig were not willing to place their bets on Kate's wedding style.

"I wish we did. We'd make a fortune if we knew," Chapman.

"She'll look stunning whatever she wears. She has impeccable taste," said Craig.
Chapman added: "And she's a beautiful girl as well. She really is."

Designer Tory Burch says Kate's choice will have huge consequences for the fashion industry: "I hope it's a good one so the world can look good because I think a lot of people will be copying her."

The royal couple's wedding will take place at London's Westminster Abbey on April 29th, so fashionistas will have to wait until the big day to find out which designer got the royal seal of approval.
