The 17-year-old pupil identified as the baby's motherwas admitted at a local hospital earlier this week owing toexcessive bleeding, where she handed over the bag containingthe dead infant to a local staff, Contactmusic reported.

The officials believe that the girl had given birth tothe infant in the premises of the school. But a spokespersonof the school has refused to comment on the scandal because ofthe involvement of a minor.

South African Police have launched an investigationwhere the prospect of a foul play in the baby's death issuspected and the prosecution is likely to follow once thepostmortem is carried out.

The school which was launched in 2007 has earlier beenrocked by scandals involving physical and sexual abuse. Thelatest scandal comes four years after the school's matronVirginia Tiny Makopo was accused of molesting students.

And in March, 2009, four pupils were expelled andanother three suspended for alleged "inappropriate behaviour"which reportedly included "sexual misconduct".
