Ouch. Probably Wouldn't Hire James Bond, Says British Secret Service

New Delhi: This will likely leave 007 fans both shaken and stirred. James Bond might be the gold standard among cinematic secret agents but MI6 says he wouldn't get a job in real life. (Also Read: Daniel Craig 'Loves' Playing Bond But 'Hates' Watching Himself On Screen)

Britain's Secret Intelligence Service, or MI6 (military intelligence, section 6) as it is commonly known, has launched a recruiting campaign which focuses on the 'human side' of potential agents. It wouldn't hire James Bond. An intelligence source is quoted by Buzzfeed as saying, "James Bond would probably not be successful in joining SIS, if he were to apply."

Bond has been pronounced unfit for duty because he's a lone ranger. "The service he represents is not the modern reality. Teamwork is central to SIS's ability to deliver intelligence, and heroes working alone rarely achieve much," explained Buzzfeed's source.

Nor will the suit-wearing, Martini-downing Bond's famously suave personality win him any points. The new recruitment drive is aimed at hiring from the working classes and, as the source tells Buzzfeed, "a high degree of emotional intelligence is every bit as important as educational attainment."

This sort of rejection would certainly crush James Bond were he not otherwise occupied with his new film SPECTRE, the London premiere of which was attended by Britain's Royal Family on Monday.

SPECTRE, the 24th Bond film, stars Daniel Craig as 007 among a cast of other worthies. Notable among these are Ralph Fiennes as Bond's boss M, Naomie Harris as Eve Moneypenny, Christoph Waltz as archvillain Blofeld and actresses Monica Bellucci and Lea Seydoux who fill the positions of Bond girls in this film.
