Robert Downey Jr Tells Howard Stern he Wishes he'd Left THAT Interview 'Sooner'

New Delhi: Actor Robert Downey Jr told American radio host Howard Stern on Tuesday that he should have walked out 'sooner' of an interview with Britain's Channel 4 which he abandoned midway last week after the questions became personal.

"I just wish I'd left sooner," Mr Downey Jr said after being asked on The Howard Stern Show if he regretted walking out. "Everybody should always be on my side," he added, when told that public opinion was largely in his favour for quitting the interview.

The actor, who plays Iron Man in the new Avengers movie, told Howard Stern, "I'm one of those guys who I'm always assuming the social decorum is in play, and that we're promoting a superhero movie, a lot of kids are going to see it, and that just has nothing to do with your creepy dark agenda."

Last week, Robert Downey Jr left an interview with Channel 4's Krishnan Guru-Murthy after he was asked about his time in jail and battle with drug addiction. On The Howard Stern Show, the actor described Mr Guru-Murthy as a 'bottom-feeding muckraker.'

Mr Guru-Murthy, writing for The Guardian, says Mr Downey Jr's PR had been told that the interview would include questions on jail and drugs. He writes: "If a movie star has no interest in engaging, maybe don't offer them up to the news. Find one of the cast who does." Mr Guru-Murthy has previously had director Quentin Tarantino walk out on him.

Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr Instagrammed this photo of himself with Howard Stern:
