New Delhi:
Tom Cruise can freak you out in less than 10 seconds. He just proved it with the teaser of his upcoming film
The Mummy which released online on Thursday and has been trending ever since. In less than a day, the 15-second clip got more than 13 lakh views on YouTube. The teaser starts with Tom Cruise earnestly appealing to co-star Annabelle Wallis, "I swear. It's real." His words are followed by a creepy laugh and an equally (if not more) creepy creature, which we can assume is The Mummy. An excavation party is in full swing and they've taken newly discovered Mummy tombs to labs for testing - big mistake.
The
Tom Cruise-film chronicles the story of an ancient princess entombed in a desert (or at least till the archeologists dug her up). The princess, who thinks her destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day and all hell breaks loose - almost literally. She's welcomed everyone to a "new world of Gods and monsters." Sofia Boutella, who featured in
Kingsman: The Secret Service and
Star Trek Beyond, plys the malevolent princess who is wreaking havoc on human kind. Russell Crowe, who appears only briefly in the teaser, plays Dr Henry Jekyll, the fictional creator of his monstrous alter-ego Mr Hyde.
Video: Here's the teaser of Tom Cruise's The Mummy: Director Alex Kurtzman has co-produced the film with Chris Morgan. Separately they've been instrumental in the growth of Hollywood franchise like the
Transformers,
Star Trek and
Mission: Impossible series (with Tom Cruise) and
Fast & Furious.
So, wait till June 9 for The Mummy to scare the bejesus out of you and look out for the trailer on Sunday.
