Yes, we know, Shah Rukh Khan is an international celebrity, but in case you were looking for any further confirmation, you would find it at the 58th Berlin film festival where Om Shanti Om was premiered.

The blockbuster was sold out days ahead of its premier, thanks to all of King Khan's fans, both Indian and non-Indian, not only from Germany but also those who'd flown in all the way from France, Austria and Poland.

Girls were even heard singing Tujhe dekha to ye jana sanam and Om Shanti Om.

When Shah Rukh finally arrived, delighted fans couldn't get enough of him. A woman, who had his autograph on her arm, said she would keep it for a big Indian party that she had to attend the next night.

But there was some heartbreak as well. "I learnt hindi, wrote 6-7 letters but got no resposne... he is busy, I guess", said a dejected fan, adding in a heavy German accent, "Tum sabse achhe ho!"

"Basically india has discovered that deep down we're all Germans... somewhere along the line people have realised we all need a second life where we can let our hair down and dance on the roads, or take off the shirt to show our six packs," Shah Rukh said.

"It is very humbling and sweet that there are so many people here in Germany (to watch OSO). To be really honest, I have never done anything that is so special. It makes me feel very special and very loved. It seems like a blessing from Allah," he acknowledged.

Berlin has never-before witnessed a gala screening such as this. No wonder Shahrukh found it "very touching".
