MAMI fest draws to a close

A weeklong journey of unforgettable cinema at the 10th MAMI international film festival has come to an end and the Bollywood brigade made sure they end it in style.

A few of industry's acclaimed personalities received award for their contribution to cinema and Dev Anand, the man who is still romancing with life did the honours.

The first Lifetime Achievement award was presented to the actor who started off as a lovesick schoolboy in Mera Naam Joker and went on to become the heartthrob of the nation, Rishi Kapoor.

Dharmendra received the second Lifetime Achievement Award for a remarkable career spanning half a century. And Gulzar was also honoured for taking music to new heights.

But the global award for Lifetime Achievement went to renowned Spanish director Carlos Saura. A special jury award went to Marathi film Tingya, the story of a village boy and his friendship with a bull.

Then came Mrs Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who presented an award to Srinivas Sunderrajan for his film Vaapsi, based on thousands who aspire to make it big in the film industry. With a grand show, the festival of cinema came to an end.
