Superstar Rajnikanth turned 58 today but the actor, who's worshipped by his fans, is not celebrating his birthday. The superstar has made it clear that the "killing of innocent Tamils in Sri Lanka and the recent Mumbai massacre" has left him numbed, so he is in no mood to party.
The actor has chosen to work on his birthday rather. He left for Hyderabad yesterday itself for the shoot of his daughter Soundarya's Sultan - The Warrior at Ramoji Rao studio.
2008 hasn't been a very rewarding year for the Tamil superstar. Rajini delivered a dud with Kuselan in which he did a cameo role. But Rajini fans did not mind, and are hopeful that their icon will be back next year with a hit under his belt.
The legendary actor, who began his career as a villain in films like 16 Vayadhinilae, Moondru Mudichu and Avargal, went on to become a cult figure in Tamil cinema. He has been around for nearly three decades and has delivered more number of hits than any other actor.
Rajinikanth's mass popularity and appeal is largely drawn from his mannerisms and stylised delivery of dialogue. He received India's third highest civilian honour, the Padma Bhushan, for his contribution to Indian cinema.
Apart from his film career, he is a well known philanthropist and also serves as a notable political influence. Other than acting, Rajinikanth has worked as a screenwriter, film producer and also a playback singer.
The actor will soon be seen opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in Robot and Enthiran.
