GURU in this movie Abhishek Bacchan is realy a"GURU".Whole story of the movie based on the struggle of a bussiness man.First time Abhishek give his marvellious performence.Aish in this movie look a very simple viilage girl but her simplicity fall a good and successful image among the veiwrs. The music of the movie is too good.no doubt this movie is the mixture of two periods. so,I can say that the movie which totally based on 1950 period create great impact on 21st century bussiness world.

The movie is great. It could be categorised as one of the inspirational movie of the decade...really it not only inspires but also motivate the viewer. Abhi's superb performance which can easly been compared with real Dihrubhai's persona......n last not the least Ash sizziling dance in Barso re meked the audiance to dance with the beats of A R Raheman. The movie is worth to watch.. in all paisaa wasool...

Movie is a junk. The actual direction, story and screen play seems to be done by Amitabh and Anil Ambani to promote their son and father respectively. It also somewhat justifies everything that Guru (read Dhiru) does. It is more of a hype and there is nothing worth spending time and money.

Its a movie beyond compare. Mani sir you are simply the best in the industry. Iam sure if its not for u then no one could have made such an amazing movie of this story line. It gives me a lot of confidence and a sense of pride at the same time while watching the movie. Iam looking forward for ur next movies.

Each n every character is skilfully carved! Be it GURU or JIGNESH bhai ! Apart from AB who is terrific in his role. I liked Ms Balan ,who didn’t look even once, as if she was acting being handicap! The Chemistry between AB n Mithun da was just excellent! All credit goes to Mr. Mani Ratnam. Thank u sir for making Indian Cinema proud

It is very good movie.Abhishek is a great actor.But he is not doing his publicity as Shahrukh khan does.Shahrukhkhan giving bribe to channels to say that his movie is super hit though we know that his movie is not doing well but the channels are singing the song of Shahrukh.And when Abhishek doing so good acting than no channel gives him same time and style of publicity as they gives to that kerosene blackmarketer shahrukh.

One of the best master piece in this early 2007. Mani again proved his excellence in his film. A.R.Rahman , the indian music genius is more sharpened.Every one should see this film, if you want to develop more in your life....

Simply superb performance by Abhi.If you are a lover of masala movies like Dhoom 2,etc then please avoid watching this movie as you may think its waste of time and money. This movie is class, so those who dont enjoy class movies can very well avoid it. I could not understand why SOME people are criticizing Abhi's performance and the movie. Its like, they couldn't digest it as they are other hero supporters. Everyone's performance is impeccably etched in the GURU. MANI RATNAM deserves a standing ovation for this Masterpiece. Its aptly supported by Rahman's music. Apart from stunning Abhi, performances of Mithunda, Madhavan and Ash are infallible and proportionate. Watch it if you like CLASS movies.

very disappointing.mani ratnam should be spelled money ratnam.he has sold his soul to the Ambanis and bachand.what a fall to the man who made maunaragam.bombay,and roja.it seems to have been bank rolled by the ambani parivar .it is only fit to be shown at the next share holders of meeting of Reliance-if the brothers can agree to which one.

Big 'B' is biased this time. After seeing 'guru' he is praising his son 'abhishek' again and again. He has commented 'I want to see the movie 100 times' and 'it is very difficult for a young actor to do the role of 50 years man'.There are so many bolloywood legends who have acted in classic movies. Does Big-B does not know that Late Sh. Sanjeev Kumar was a versatile actor and he has done 9 different roles of different age in 'Naya Din Nayi Raat'. There are so many other moview better than 'guru. If abhishek-Ash engagement would not have announced, the movie would not have been a hit. Big-B also knows that.

Performances that ranged from stupendous from Abhishek, Mithun & Madhavan to commendable from Ashwariya. A feel good movie that celebrates success, questions the bottlenecks that the Indian Entrepreneur experienced and hindered his progress. The clearing that now is available to a whole new breed of confident Indians gives them the hope that they can conquer the world. Scenes such as the one where Abhishek goes to meet a dying Vidya Balan – not a single word spoken but the expressions conveyed everything. The laughter that Abhishek potrays while addressing his shareholders conveys supreme confidence that he has in his abilities. A must see.

Excellent movie by Maniratnam,in which the performance of Abhishek is rocking, actually he is juiced by Mani. Abhi has showed his talent in YUVA but Gurukant Desai is shown as reality.As a movie,Aish did well,music is average except 1/2 songs and MithunDa,Madhwan & Vidya also did well in respect of thier performance. One thing more Mallika looked nice in period item song.

Quite dissapointing. Melodramatic performance by Abhi, ceratinly lacking maturity and copying Amitabh is apparant in every scene. Film makers like Mani Ratnam should have more social responsibility and refrain from doing films glorifying the wrong and justifying the wrong because he has been wronged. We are aspiring for Oscars and expect such melodramatic performances to be accepted!! Come on wake up

To start with the movie had very good music and bgm,excellent cinematography.Adding to this was the sinctilating performance from abhishek.But the film is not of manirathnam's standard.The second half was very slow and i didn,t expect such a screenplay from mani sir.But it requires a brave heart to give such a film against many oppositions.

I saw Guru recently and while it may not perhaps match up to Mani Rathnam's best works like Nayakan, Mouna Ragam (which is my alltime favourite), Roja, Bombay and Kannathil Mutthamittal, it definitely is better than his earlier hindi (mis) adventures of Dil Se and Yuva. Abhishek has delivered a stand out performance - one which surely will see him win awards this year. Samir Chanda's art direction and Rajeev Menon's photography are amongst the best one has seen in recent times. AR Rahman's Back ground score is bang on while the songs somehow didnt quite fit in the whole scheme of things and ended up slackening the pace of the movie. The script had a few loose ends while the screen play ensured that not many people noticed the loose ends in the script!! All in all, an excellent movie to start the year and in my opinion, I would rate it 7 out of 10

The highlight of this movie is the title song filmed on Mallika Sherawat - What a beutiful & sensuous dance!!! Rest of the story is predictive - as the story is based on Industrialist DhiruBhai aka GuruBhai played by Abhishek Bachchan. Performance-wise,every character has given their best - nothing extraordinary as such.

I loved the way Mani Ratnam handled the relationships and the way he moulded every character, especially, the one of Gurukant Desai. The way the young-n-lean foreign returned villager with a funny moustache who gradually grows in years-n-stature as he treads on the road less traveled. The sources that a business man uses to develop himself and how journalism plays a vital role in a business man's life, was interestingly brought out. The waves it could create were well etched.

It's one of the best Indian film I have seen. In fact I saw it 3 times in 2 days and can see it again. Mani has got the best of Abishek whose performance is simply mind blowing. A must see.

Guru is a wonderful movie and Abhi's performance was excellent. but the heroin should have been Rani in the movie and as well in Abhi's real life too.Ash is only a showpiece who is only worth seeing and not spending the rest of your life.She does not even know how to act and i wonder why directors choose her. The on-screen chemistry between the would be realtime couples has done the magic, not to forget the effort put in by the india's master story teller. Abishek Bachan steals the screen with a wonderful performance as an industrialist. This one i believe might turnout to be one major success of Abishek which he can boast of. Guru is a marvelous movie for its cinematography, music & the way Maniratnam has got the best of the two actors Abhishek & Aishwarya more known for their star parents & the beauty queen title respectively. Simply put it’s the best we have seen of Abhishek & Ash in terms of on screen performances so far. The maturity, dialogue delivery & acting they have shown is simply impeccable. We have known Mani for lots of good movies he has directed so far from Talapathy to Guru but what Guru has done for lots of people in the industry is simply amazing. May it be from introducing Abhisheik as an actor rather than a son of a super star or introducing new voices to the Indian audiences in its songs. Though quite a few including Maniratnam may claim that this movie has got nothing to do with the late business icon Dhirubai but almost all of his qualities & experiences have been neatly displayed in the movie. Also what needs to be noticed in the movie is how the director brings in both the good & bad qualities of an Icon in the movie. Its easy said that sincerity & Gandhism will take you to top but in real life it does not happen so. We tend to & are forced to adopt wrong means to get to the top which is more realistic than the story of Lage Raho Munna Bhai which would have worked in the 40’s or 50’s during Gandhi’s period. It’s a bold approach to show the court scene & other legal hurdles that GuruBhai goes through in the movie for his deeds. To talk about the music in the film, what praise would be enough for a wonderful output from the legendry musician Rehman? It can only be said that Rehman always saves his best for Maniratnam & makes his other producers jealous. Overall this movie is a great start for Abhi & Ash just before their wedding & let’s only hope that Ash stands by Abhi in the real life in times of need & it just does not stop with Guru.

GURU- a highly awaited film, directed by mani ratnam. Obviously expectations were high from this film but unfortunately it fails to impress. Biggest drawback of the film is its poor screnplay and a weird ending, movie is also very slow paced. Abhishek though has acted pretty well but he has immitated Amitabh Bachchan of AGNEEPATH. He looks more like a mimic artist. He has spoken dailogues in big B's style all the way. End has benn forced to be a happy ending. Music is poor. Not a great movie, as it was expected to be!

After watching the movie i couldnt believe the very fact that the man we saw in refugee has turned into a full flourished actor,i mean smallB just enacted the BIG B's karisma in his flick and poised the critics.Movie is worth watching and screenplay of the movie by the gifted director was an eye candy.How he narrates the whole life of great Ambani on the screen and leaving people:especially youth with a key note,adhereance to harkwork and determination can bring profound change in turning your life's course was great. Hats off to the whole team of GURU.

It was a perfect story to exploit and make a really good inspiring movie, but I have to say it was a huge dissappointment. Not only was the movie not well directed (based on the story) it makes rising from the dead look much easier. If you truly want to be inspired watch Pursuit of Happyness, that is a true story of a guy down and out, working to the point of survival. Apart from good acting performances from Abhishek and Aishwarya and Mithun, GURU is not only far from expectations but downright offensive.

The master is back,after movies like Dilse & Yuva which were mediocore by his standards, Mani ratnam is in roaring form. Abhishek Bachan's acting is a tribute to his genes.The rest of the cast espescially Mithun and Ash are superb. I just hope Mani Ratnam keeps his rediscoverd form.Guru reminds you of the magic of Mouna Ragam,Anjali, Roja and Guru. GREAT SHOW. Please watch this movie.

Good film to begin this year. as usual maniratnam is brilliant as director. abhishek is outstanding as well as Aishwarya. music and song are very good and melodious. good with watch with family.

The 2nd masterpiece from Mani after Nayakan.This time, the masterpiece is in Hindi version. Abhi has produced a steller performance, thanks to the Director, because he believed in him. That's why he is the best in the business. Hi Hip Hurray. Good luck to all the cast and crews.

Abhishek is given an outstanding performance. He had already proved himself in Yuva, Sarkar & now in Guru. He is Guru in acting. He is the best actor than anyone we have like Hrithek who works only in computerised film for children.

Its a classical film....Mani has proved yet again tat he s legend in making movies...he extracted gud work from abhi-ash...maddy was real gud...A.R.Rahman has done exceptionally well...hats off to d team n waitin for lajjo from mani,.,.

It is an outstanding movie with a dream performance by Abhishek Bachchan . This one movie will take him miles ahead of his contemporaries . It was such a difficult role to enact...from an 18 year old to his 20s , then on to his 50s ! Nobody attempts such a role so early in his career . With this movie , Abhi has proved that he can carry a movie on his own shoulders ! True , in Dhoom 2 , a heavily biased plot (in favour of the 'bad guy') did him in ! But he has surpassed himself and everyone else in the industry with this performance . There is a strong urge to see this movie again and again !! What a start to 2007 for Bollywood!!

One more time Mani Ratnam re-affirms that he is one of the finest directors and master story-teller in Indian cinema. This time it is GURU, which is not just a regular masala flick but an enjoyable experience. If you are a lover of masala movies please avoid watching this movie this is not for an ordinary person. This movie is certainly a defining moment in Abhishek's career. He portrays the charecter so well that we can't realise if it is GuruBhai or Abhishek. Ash is stunningly beautiful. Mithunda performance is flawless, Madhavan as firebrand reporter has done his job to perfection. Vidya is lovely but seems like little lost in inconspicuous characterisation and so as Arya Babbar. ARR enthralls us with some stunning and differently flavoured music, while Gulzar saab penned beautiful lyrics.Rajiv Menon's camera work is real treat to the eyes with some brilliant hues that takes through various time periods.overall a very good movie, go treat yourself with a ticket to your nearest cinea theater.

Abhishek is outstanding. Ash looks very down to earth and played the role with ease. A movie which is a must see. Everything excels in the movie from direction, acting and music. All the way it is Abhishek's movie. Hats off to Abhishek and Maniratnam.

Guru will be remembered as one of the masterpieces by Maniratnam .good story telling about problems in indian society about every dreamer.everything is great in the movie about acting ,sets ,songs etc .must watch movie to awaken yourself in india

Its Abishek all the way, much to the credit of Mani Ratnam. Good performances from all characters, though Vidya Balan & Madhavan could have contributed more with longer roles.

The first half of the movie really builds up the tempo for a terrific finish. But the second half does not live up to the expectation. And the justification given by Guru for all his wrongdoings looks very immatured. At that level you cannot get away by saying that you did not know about the terms like, Excise, income tax etc. With this magnitude of business you can probably employ the best of the experts for advices. This is where the film misses out. Guru says he has saved share holders money by indulging into wrong way of doing things but what explanation do you have when you pay huge bribes and get corruption on your side.Somehow this will not go well with the audience in general and corporate corruption will be an unknown term for the interiors. So with the publicity it may do well in cities like Mumbai but I don't see it as a successfull movie elsewhere.

Guru proves Abhishek can work as well if not better as dad Amitji. In the last scene his smiles showed his ability to act and show his dynamic personality. Ash was equally good or better. I give five stars to it. Keep up Abhishek. It seems your family will go on entertaining us for ever. Unfortunately I might not be around when your son comes up to act. Quite useless film. Abhi tried to be good, but he is a very limited actor, ash is a showpeice, dumb as usual. A strong story let down by the insipid performance of it laed actors. Being a star son has its advantages and Abhi keeps on getting good roles, but messes up every one of them. He could be a good supporting actor is what I sincerely believe. Now that he has married Aish, he will be even more overwhelmed by her, perhaps a reversal of roles of his father

Guru is simply a Great movie to watch..Excellent Direction by Manirathnam..Superb photography by Rajiv menon..Very Good music and BGM by A.R. Rahman and bravo perfomance by the Entire cast especially from Abhi and Mithunda
