EMI
Cast: Sanjay Dutt, Urmilla Matondkar, Malaika Arora, Arj
Director: Saurabh Kabra

EMI, which stands for Easy Monthly Installments, is perfectly timed. The recent global financial meltdown makes a film that advocates fiscal responsibility especially appropriate.

But that is just about the only thing debutant director-writer Saurabh Kabra's film has going for it. EMI, which revolves around four individuals unable to pay back their bank loans and a recovery agent named Sattar Bhai, is superbly incoherent and staggeringly boring.

The characters are wafer thin, the writing is shoddy and the situations are just ridiculous - we even have to suffer Sattar Bhai, played predictably by Sanjay Dutt, romancing Urmila Matondkar who is supposed to be a widow with a ten lakh loan on her head but her face shows little anxiety and her outfits are always impeccably coordinated.

What talented actors like Dutt and Arjun Rampal are doing in this train wreck of a movie remains a mystery. Steer clear of this one.

I second Chaitali. Sometimes I get feeling that there's something shady to Anupama's reviewing. The movie was not bad at all. It could've been better but we don't have to 'STEER CLEAR'. Anyone notices the stereo type?. Anupama has infact become some sort of a joke to me. I watch the movie first and predict what she would say and I see a stereo type. Good movies usually don't get a good review from her. If we get such wrong info all this frequently, the day is not far when the surfers will ... whats the worddd... yeah 'STEER CLEAR' of Anupama's reviews.

You are reviews are correct the character roles could have been a lot more strong... but I tend to disagree with you on the point on stereotyping a widow, you say she was dressed up??? jeez when will we accept more liberal ideas????

I have not seen the movie, neither intend to, but, I am surprised a NDTV film critic is not only devoid of such simple knowledge, i.e.E in EMI stands for 'equated' not 'easy', she does not even care to know it ,knowing extremely well ,the surfers of NDTV are not illeterate class. She did not even mention about malaika Arora's performance. I still wonder how ,many people manage to get a such respected job! Is there any editorial team ?

Just by way of pointless nit-picking, the E in EMI stands for 'equated' not 'easy'.
