Mamma Mia: Carla Bruni plans a baby?Carla Bruni, the glamorous wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, is set to make her debut as an actress in a forthcoming film directed by Woody Allen.
42-year-old Italian-born former supermodel turned pop singer confirmed that she had accepted an offer made publicly by Allen, one of France's favourite film-makers, on a trip to Paris in June.
New York filmmaker Allen visited the French first couple in June this year during a trip to Paris to promote his last movie
Whatever Works.
"He suggested I appear in his next film. I don't know what the role would be, but I said yes," she told the Canal Plus network's prime time entertainment show.
"I go into everything blindly, or I'd never do anything at all," she added.
"Perhaps I will be completely hopeless but I can't miss an opportunity like this one. When I'm a grandmother I'd like to be able to say I made a film with Woody Allen," said to a source.
Asked whom he would like to cast in his next work, the New York director said: "Without question, Carla Bruni. I am sure she would be wonderful. She has charisma, and she performs, so she's not a stranger to an audience."
The project remained vague, Carla said. Carla has only made a few, brief film appearances in which she always played herself. These include Robert Altman's 1994 fashion satire, Pret-a-Porter, and the 1994 French film, Paparazzi, the report said.
