New Delhi: Singer Ariana Grande has called out a would-be body shamer online, becoming the latest in a series of celebrities to do so.

The 22-year-old musician Instagrammed a screenshot of a post from an unnamed surfer who said he'd pick Modern Family actress Ariel Winter over Ariana because "curves are sexy sticks aren't."

This was the Love Me Harder hitmaker's response: "Diversity is sexy. Loving yourself is sexy. You know what is not sexy? Misogyny, objectifying, labelling, comparing and body shaming. Talking about people's bodies as if they're on display asking for your approval/opinion. They Are Not."

Ariel, 17, stuck up for Ariana on Twitter and the two exchanged compliments:

Ariana and Ariel were preceded by American model Gigi Hadid's strongly-worded post which read: "No, I don't have the same body type as the other models in shows. I represent a body image that wasn't accepted in high-fashion before."

Closer home, actress Lisa Ray, 43, told news agency IANS that she also dealt with being body-shamed. "I get it as well. We have a lot of trolling and things like that. I am very proud of who I am today but honestly, I have to struggle with it as well," she said. (Also Read: Three Models Claim They've Been Body-Shamed. Hard to Believe? Read This)

"We have to stop putting up with these unrealistic aspirations and it has to start with the media. There is so much of photoshopping and things like that that go on in the media. I think we all love beautiful images but we also have to understand what goes into making those images," she added.
