David Bowie Was Optimistic About Recovering From Cancer, Says Friend

Los Angeles: Legendary musician David Bowie was optimistic about the fact that he would recover from cancer, said his close friend, film producer Robert Fox.

David Bowie died on January 10 after an 18-month battle with cancer. He was 69.

Robert revealed that Mr Bowie was preparing to take an 'experimental' medicine which would 'prolong his life,' reported The Times .

"He was feeling unwell but he wasn't making a fuss about it. He was about to start a new treatment that was quite experimental. It was successful with some people. He felt optimistic that it would prolong his life, hopefully in the belief that there would be better treatments that would come along," he said.

Mr Bowie was also a record producer, painter and actor. His best known screen work is in The Man Who Fell To Earth, in which he played the lead, and as the Goblin King in Labyrinth. He made cameo appearances in Zoolander and The Last Temptation Of Christ. He also starred in an acclaimed production of The Elephant Man on Broadway.
