Grammys 2014: Beyonce, Jay-Z open the show in sizzling style

  • The Grammy Awards this year opened with a sizzling his-and-hers performance by superstar couple Beyonce and Jay-Z who treated a cheering crowd to the first live rendition of their song Drunk In Love.
  • Mr and Mrs Carter, nominated for their song collaboration Part II (On The Run), began the performance with Beyonce sitting in a chair. When Jay-Z came out for his part, the couple held hands and slow-danced. For Beyonce, famously criticized for lip-syncing the American National Anthem at the Super Bowl, it was the performance of performances.
  • Both Beyonce and Jay-Z have previously collaborated with other performers at the Grammys. Beyonce sang Proud Mary with Tina Turner in 2008 and Jay-Z has sung with Justin Timberlake, Paul McCartney and Coldplay on separate occasions. However, this is the first time that husband and wife have joined forces at the Grammys.
  • Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake won Best Rap/Song Collaboration for Holy Grail which is also nominated for Best Rap Song. Jay-Z was also up fr Best Rap Album for Magna Carta... Holy Grail, losing to Kanye West's Yeezus.
