New Delhi: Oh dear. It seems that not only is Yeezus not the 'greatest living rock star on the planet,' he wasn't even the biggest draw at Glastonbury.

Despite Kanye West's headlining Saturday night slot at the music festival, more people turned out to see Lionel Richie, making his Glasto debut in the less coveted Sunday spot.

CraveOnline reports that a 100,000-strong crowd showed up for Mr Richie who, midway through his performance, stopped to survey the masses and declared "What the hell is going on?"

The day before, Kanye followed up a dodgy cover of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody with this grand proclamation: "You are watching the greatest living rock star on the planet!" It undid this more endearing statement he had made just minutes earlier: "Thank you all for coming out tonight, thank you for coming to see me."

Kanye was booked for Glasto despite a petition to have him dropped, signed by some 135,000 people. Glasto organisers said they even received death threats.

In spite of his self-proclaimed greatness and the dubiousness of the Queen cover, Kanye's 100-minute set received good reviews, opening with Stronger and ending with Gold Digger. But he was clearly out-performed by 66-year-old Lionel Richie whose performance included the hits Hello and All Night Long.

He wasn't the only one - Mr Richie drew a bigger crowd than the headliners on Friday and Sunday as well, Florence And The Machine and The Who.

The Glastonbury Music Festival was held in the UK last weekend.
