Mumbai: From Lata Mangeshkar to Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, Indian film fraternity members on Thursday remembered legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar on his 87th birth anniversary and called him a 'phenomenal star' who continues to rule people's hearts.

Kishore Kumar would have been 87 this year. Born Abhas Kumar Ganguly, Kishore Kumar debuted as an actor with Shikari in 1946. In 1948, music director Khemchand Prakash gave Mr Kumar a chance to sing Marne Ki Duayen Kyon Mangu in the film Ziddi. There was no looking back.

Maana Janaab Ne Pukara Nahin, Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai, O Hansini Meri Hansini, Roop Tera Mastana, Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si are some of his evergreen hits.

Kishore Kumar died at the age of 58 in 1987.
