Pakistani Singer Ghulam Ali to Perform in Delhi in December

New Delhi: Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali, whose concert in Mumbai this week was cancelled following threats from the political party Shiv Sena, will now perform at a show scheduled to take place in New Delhi in December.

The news was confirmed by Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal. He shared the news on Twitter, on October 9:



Delhi's ruling political division Aam Aadmi Party on October 8, had invited the noted singer to perform in New Delhi after he cancelled his Mumbai concert. Ghulam Ali was scheduled to perform on Friday at Mumbai's Shanmukhanand Auditorium, a venue for several Shiv Sena functions.

The 75-year-old singer was scheduled to perform in Mumbai and Pune as a tribute to late singer Jagjit Singh on his death anniversary. The 74-year-old singer made an entry in Indian cinema with his popular song Chupke Chupke Raat Din for B R Chopra's Nikaah. He has legions of fans across the world and was "hurt" when his concert in Mumbai had to be cancelled, as he shared that he aims at spreading the message of love and peace through his music.
