Salman has great music sense: Ek Tha Tiger composer

  • Sohail debuted as a film composer with the 2008 film Sirf, which went unnoticed. Later, he gained fame with his work in What's Your Raashee?
  • Asked what made him choose to become a composer, he said, "I come from a family of musicians who have worked in the film industry. I am the fourth generation of my family to step into the field of composing.
  • "My father, Sameer Sen (of the music director duo Dilip Sen Sameer Sen) has always been a strong influence in my life and so was my paternal grandfather Shri Shambhu Sen's singing," he said.
  • Sohail also said that being new in the music industry, he prefers to work with new, budding singers rather than famous names.
  • "I like to work with new singers. I am also new here as compared to others. That is why I think even I should give chance to budding talent, the way others gave me. But that does not mean that I don't want to work with established singers."
  • Sohail said he likes experimenting with music and tries to add something new to each film he composes music for.
  • "All the films that I have done are different from each other. Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey had a old world charm, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan had thumping tracks. With Ek Tha Tiger, I have tried to mix world music with commercial cinema."
