Pop star Shakira turned down
rapper Pitbull's offer to join him on his new hit Give Me
Everything citing personal reasons.
The Latino rapper said that the Hips Don't Lie
hitmaker was his first choice as a partner on the dancefloor
favourite, Contactmusic reported.
"I tried to get Shakira on the record but, due to some
personal things she was going through, she couldn't jump on
the record," he said.
Pitbull then turned to model and singer Nayer instead.
The eight-month recording process was completed when
Ne-Yo joined the duo to complete the track, which ended
Adele's mammoth run at the top of the US pop charts last week.
Pitbull, 30, has earlier featured on Shakira's song
Rabiosa from her 2010 album Sale el Sol.
It is not known what personal things prevented
Shakira, 34, from joining Pitbull in the studio, but the
Colombian singer recently split from her longtime boyfriend
Antonio de la Rua and is now dating soccer star Gerard Pique.
