India has said goodbye to the Cannes Film Festival and as a farewell note we're taking a last look at what they wore in the French Riviera. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's first red carpet dress in her 14th year at Cannes left critics cold - a teal net Elie Saab concoction with what looked like holes in the skirt.

She redeemed herself with her second red carpet look - a black and white Ralph & Russo dress constructed with origami-like pleating

Between her red carpet looks, Ash wore a berry-coloured Oscar de la Renta ballgown to launch her comeback film Jazbaa.

Aishwarya's more casual looks included a floral-print Sabyasachi dress at Variety magazine's event on gender equality. To meet the press, she wore Stella McCartney shirt and pants and for Twitter duties, a black Ferragamo dress.

Sonam Kapoor, celebrating her fifth year at Cannes, made a good start (if rather unexciting, for her) in cobalt Ralph & Russo for her first red carpet appearance.

Sonam's concluding outfit - a giant feathered Elie Saab dress the colour of limes - was instantly reviled on social media with comparisons to Sesame Street's Big Bird and her father Anil Kapoor's chest hair.

The most spectacular of Sonam's outfits were those she wore off the red carpet - an Abu-Sandeep ivory sari she wore to meet the press and a black and gold art deco style dress by the same designers at the Chopard party.

Cannes rookie Katrina Kaif was perhaps the biggest loser of the Indian contingent, opening her fashion account with a forgettable black lace Oscar de la Renta dress.

Her second red carpet look was only a little better - a red Elie Saab brocade dress that clashed horribly with her hair, coloured red for her film Fitoor.

As with Sonam, Katrina's best look came off the red carpet in the monochrome Milly dress with sheer panels that she wore at press interviews on her first day.

India was also represented by actress Richa Chadha, in Cannes with her film Masaan. The actress looked glamorous in a Giles dress at the photocall for her film and a Sabyasachi sari at the premiere.

Cannes regular Mallika Sherawat had her moment of glamour in a deep pink Alexis Mabille dress. The actress was in Cannes to attend a panel discussion at the India Pavilion.
