Two years after they admitted to being engaged, actors Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt secretly married in a chapel on their French estate on August 23. For nine years, theirs has been one of Hollywood's most watched romances. Ahead, a look at how Mr & Mrs Smith became Mr & Mrs Pitt.
They famously fell in love on the sets of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, while Brad was still married to actress Jennifer Aniston. Brad and Jennifer divorced on October 2, 2005 amid much heartbreak for the F.R.I.E.N.D.S actress. Some years later, Angelina confirmed that she had indeed fallen for her hunky co-star while filming, adding that she 'couldn't wait to get to work' everyday.
Angelina and Brad have six children together - sons Maddox, Pax and Knox, and daughters Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne. In 2002, Angelina adopted her first child, seven-month-old Maddox Chivan, from Cambodia. She was then married to, but about to separate from, actor Billy Bob Thornton.
On July 6, 2005, Angelina adopted six-month-old Zahara Marley from Ethiopia. Her new partner, Brad, accompanied her to Ethiopia and, in December the same year, announced that he would adopt Maddox and Zahara. In January 2006, the last names of Angelina's two children were formally changed to Jolie-Pitt.
Brad and Angelina's first biological child was born on May 27 in Namibia. They named their new daughter Shiloh Nouvel and sold her first pictures to People and Hello! Magazines, donating the money they made to charities for African children.
Angelina adopted her fourth child, three-year-old Pax, from Vietnam in March 2007. She adopted as a single parent because of Vietnam's laws which disallow unmarried couples from adopting a child together. Brad adopted Pax early the next year.
