One of the first playback singers of the Indian film industry, Shamshad Begum worked with some of the top music directors of the 1950s and 60s like Naushaad and OP Nayyar. Her soulful songs from the black and white era are still loved by music enthusiasts and have also been remixed a number of times for young party lovers. Legendary singer Shamshad Begum, one of the first playback singers in the Hindi film industry and voice behind hit songs like Mere Piya Gaye Rangoon, Kabhi Aar Kabhi Paar and Kajra Mohabbat Wala, has died at her Mumbai residence. She was 94.

Leke pehla pehla pyar - CID (1956): This foot-tapping number from the crime-thriller movie was one of the many superhit songs from CID. O P Nayyar was the music director, and the song was a duet by Shamshad Begum and Md Rafi, picturised on Dev Anand and Shakila.

Kabhi aar kabhi paar - Aar Paar (1954) : The title track of the movie Aar Paar, directed by Guru Dutt, had music composed by O P Nayyar and was sung by Shamshad Begum. The song was picturised on the lead pair of the movie Guru Dutt and Shakila.
