Anushka Shetty's Rudhramadevi Made Tax-Free in Telangana

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has exempted Gunasekhar's Rudhramadevi from entertainment tax.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao made the announcement when the film unit called him in Hyderabad on October 8.

Gunasekhar, co-producer Neelima Guna and distributor Dil Raju met the chief minister and requested him for exemption of entertainment tax.

Mr Rao said that the film will be exempted from entertainment tax as it is based on the Kaktiya dynasty and the life of warrior queen Rudhramadevi .

Anushka Shetty plays the titular role in the film which also features Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati. (Also Read: Filming Rudhramadevi, Anushka Shetty Bonded With Lakshmi the Elephant)

Rudhramadevi is scheduled to release on October 9 in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and other states.

The film has reportedly been made on a budget of Rs 80 crore and was first shot simultaneously in Telugu and Tamil and later dubbed into Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam.

It is slated to release in both 2D and 3D formats in over 160 screens in the United States.

Meanwhile, Baahubali director S S Rajamouli has appealed to the Andhra Pradesh government to follow Telangana and exempt Rudhramadevi from taxes.
