A still from Baahubali.

New Delhi: The trailer of director SS Rajamouli's Baahubali was released at 5pm on Monday to instant viral glory. On YouTube, it received over 10,000 views within the first hour and has been watched almost 6.5 lakh times as we write this.

Baahubali, a two-part epic, is reputed to be the most expensive film made in India. Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is presenting the film, tweeted a link to the trailer of 'India's biggest motion picture' on Monday and within minutes, the hashtag #BaahubaliTrailer began to trend. The link was retweeted about 661 times.

The two-minute long clip is filled with lush landscapes of mountains and waterfalls, temples and palaces, and battlefields.

The second half of the trailer is simply lousy with warriors going into battle, led by actors Prabhas, who plays a double role of which one is the titular Baahubali, and Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva. Both are built to epic scale, with imposing physiques and costumes to match.

There is also a longish glimpse of Tamannaah, one of the two female leads with Anushka Shetty, wafting along clothed in gossamer white.

The trailer was launched at a glitzy event on Monday by Karan Johar, director Rajamouli and the cast. It was preceded by a 16-second long teaser on Sunday.

Baahubali is being made in both Telugu and Tamil. It will be dubbed in Hindi, Malayalam, English and, apparently, French. The cast also includes Ramya Krishnan, Nassar and Sathyaraj.

Part one of the film releases on July 10.
