Chief Minister visits Jagathy Sreekumar in the hospital

  • Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today visited veteran Malayalam film actor Jagathy Sreekumar at the hospital where he is being treated after he met with a car accident on March 10.
  • Chandy, who was en route to Wayanad, spent about 15 minutes with the actor and also spoke to the doctors treating Sreekumar, hospital sources said.
  • They said the actor was showing improvement and if it continued, he would be shifted by air ambulance tomorrow to Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore.
  • A three-member doctors team from CMC had recently assessed the actor's condition and had decided to shift him to Vellore. But it was postponed as Sreekumar developed fever and was kept on ventilator, which has been removed now, they said.
  • Sreekumar, who has acted in more than 1,000 films, was on his way to Kodagu in Karnataka for shooting a film when his car rammed into a road divider and overturned at nearby Tenhippalam.
  • He was admitted to the private Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences hospital, where he has undergone various surgeries.
