Veteran filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan's wife Sunanda, died at a hospital in Mumbai, the family said on Wednesday. She was 66.
She was undergoing cancer treatment at a hospital in Mumbai, where she died on Tuesday evening.
The body was brought to Mr Gopalakrishnan's home in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday afternoon and people from several walks of life came to pay their homage.
The couple has a daughter, Aswathi, who is a police officer and is currently posted in Mumbai along with her husband C Dorje, also in the police.
