Veteran Telugu film personalityand former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao was adjudged thebest actor for 2009 in annual Nandi film awards announced byAndhra Pradesh government.
Narayana Rao, who directed about 150 films in a careerspanning several decades, got the best actor award for hisperformance in the film
Mestry.
He had served as Union Minister of State for Mines in theprevious term of the UPA government.
Sontha Ooru directed by P Suneel Kumar Reddy wasadjudged as the first best feature film, while
Baanam and
Kalavara Maye Madilo were the second and third best featurefilms respectively.
Best leading actress award was given to Teerdha for herperformance in the film
Sontha Ooru.

Magadheera starring Chiranjeevi's sonand young hero Ram Charan who also bagged one of the specialjury awards for his role of a warrior in
Magadheera.
