Mumbai: Marathi thriller Sa Sasucha is facing a boycott call issued by Andhshradha Nirmulan Samiti, a rationalist organisation, which is accusing the film of promoting superstition.

While Samiti founder Narendra Dabholkar has asked movie buffs to boycott the film, the film's director Kishor Pandurang Belekar says the noted rationalist has exceeded his brief.

"I respect Dabholkar and his work but to have the notion that every time one is right, is also a kind of superstition," Belekar said.

"Talking of boycott without even watching the film is not justified. Posters of the film were put up a month ago but then no one spoke about boycott. Why now," said Belekar adding that he had invited Dabholkar to see the film.

Meanwhile Dabholkar has said that he wants to have a public debate with the filmmaker over the issue.

"I challenged Belekar to a public debate to prove if things like reincarnation and ghosts exist," Dabholkar said over phone. "He hasn't accepted my challenge."
