For some befuddling reason, MSG movies continue to be made. The trailer of Gurmeet Ram Rahim's third - yes, third - film was released this week and is trending on social media.
Ambitiously titled
MSG The Warrior - Lion Heart, the trailer is over three-and-a-half minutes long and we tuned out midway. As always, Ram Rahim - who heads the spiritual sect Dera Sacha Sauda - is the star of the show.
In previous screen outings, MSG cured AIDS and more. This time, he's battling what looks like a spaceship. He's starts off looking like Crocodile Dundee and ends dressed like something out of the Mahabharata, with Balaji-style set decoration.
At some point, amid the bow and arrows and maces, a caption appears explaining that MSG is a 'secret agent' - even though there's clearly nothing secret about him.
There's a bunch of strange beings with lights on them. Probably aliens.
We couldn't really tell what was going on and truth be told, we didn't try very hard. But Ram Rahim's captive audience - his followers - need little else but his larger-than-life presence on screen, which he delivers plentifully.
The previous MSG movies were written, produced and directed by Gurmeet Ram Rahim but this time, he's recruited his daughter Honeypreet to help out. 'Directed by baap beti jodi,' proclaims the trailer at the end.
