Its a birthday the world envies - 12/12/12. Superstar Rajinikanth who turned 62 today decided to commemorate the occasion by breaking with tradition.
So at 9 am, he walked out of his house to wave to a few hundred fans who couldn't believe their luck.
One young fan, a college student, told NDTV, "It was like seeing God today, like Thirupathi darshan. Another said "I just screamed thalaivaa [leader]".

The 3D version of his blockbuster hit Sivaji
hit screens today. All the fifteen screens showing the 3D film across Chennai had sold-out shows.
Rajini fans also rushed to temples across the state, seeking divine blessings for their hero.
Mr Rajagopalan , one of them, shared, "We performed a special puja for the well-being of our superstar; that's more important for us than watching the new film today."
Another group of fans had edited a "video album" for the actor and managed to hand it to him when he walked out of his home.
Rajnikanth says his next film Kochadaiyaan
, a technological extravaganza where he plays a warrior will be released soon. The film is directed by his daughter, Soundarya R Ashwin.
