Mumbai: Filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh, who released his short film Ahalya on YouTube earlier this year, said that online platforms help filmmakers to break barriers and experiment with their work.

Set in a contemporary time in Kolkata, the 14-minute long film is a thriller, which is inspired by the Hindu epic Ramayana. It portrays the fates of an apsara, a maharishi and rain god Indra through the characters played by Radhika Apte, Soumitra Chatterjee and Tota Roy Chowdhury.(Also Read: Amitabh Bachchan Calls Sujoy's Ahalya 'Brilliant')

"If you want to experiment with your content, you need to opt for online platforms," Sujoy told IANS.

"It gives you the freedom to express and experiment and that's what makes it unique. It is the future of content consumption. This is why I released Ahalya online," said Sujoy.
