Azhagarsamyin Kuthirai has been selected to be screened at the 36th Toronto International Film Festival being held in September 2011.

The Tamil movie Azhagarsamyin Kuthirai has been selected to be screened at the 36th Toronto International Film Festival being held in September 2011.

According to a press release, it is the only film from South India to be selected at the festival in the Contemporary World Cinema category.

"This is a prestigious segment where the best of world cinema is selected and compete with one another," it said.

The Tamil film is based on a story penned by writer Bhaskar Sakthi.

Directed by Suseenthiran, the film's music has been scored by Illayaraja. The films stars Appukutty and Saranya Mohan.
