Chennai: Rana Daggubati would be playing a happy-go-lucky youngster in his next Telugu project, quite antithetical to the ruthless character he portrayed in SS Rajamouli's Baahubali. The light-hearted romantic comedy, currently in pre-production, would be directed by popular choreographer-turned-filmmaker Prem Rakshith. Produced by his father Daggubati Suresh Babu, the shoot for this project is likely to commence later this year, with Regina Cassandra playing Rana's lady love. Rana would also be simultaneously working for another untitled Telugu film, which deals with the bizarre disappearance of the submarine Ghazi, during the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. He would be playing an executive naval officer of the Indian submarine S21 in the science-fiction underwater warfare thriller, the first of its kind in India. It is Sankalp's debut project both as writer and director. The film will be partially based on the book Blue Fish, authored by the 31-year-old director. This project is expected to go on floors in early 2016.

The 30-year-old actor is currently awaiting the release of the Tamil remake of Malayalam blockbuster Bangalore Days, in which he reprises the role of Fahadh Fazil and Rudramadevi, which also stars Anushka Shetty. The shooting for the final instalment of the Magnus opus Baahubali is also expected to commence in October. With such an impressive line-up of films, the versatile actor is all set to rock 2016.
