It is easy to see that the purpose of Love Story 2050, directed by Harry Baweja, is essentially to peddle the producer-director's son. This sci-fi love story is merely a long, boring, silly and expensive excuse to find a new superstar.
So, since it's all about Harman Baweja, who we're told about 20 times in the film that he's 23 years old, let's just put it this way; he is not a bad actor at all.
I think it takes some skill to play Hrithik Roshan this well, right from his dance movements to his diction and manners. It seems more funny than uncanny.
The film itself is basically a stock Rakesh Roshan subject, the sorts of Karan Arjun meets Kaho Naa Pyar Hai meets Koi Mil Gaya on a really bad day.
We find our Sydney super-dude in love with a stranger, that's Priyanka Chopra. We know nothing about the girl besides that she has an unbearable screen presence. They've gone on two or three dates. She dies.
For some reason the boy knows she'll come alive in Mumbai in 2050. He gets on his uncle's time machine, flies out to get her back from her rebirth.
The rest is a relentlessly hammering mix of even some good stuff we've seen before that's turned into B-grade Bollywood: there is the mad-scientist from Back To The Future, the wigs from Fifth Element, light-saber from Star Wars.
This so-called science fiction fantasy starts only in the second half of the movie. Until then we were twiddling our thumb. But after that, the pointlessness never stops. Really, I think, I should stop here.
We're no prophets of boom. I have no idea what Mumbai would be like in 2050. Let alone flying cars and teleporting human beings, I'd be very happy if there was a Metro in the city by then. We should be happy if Bombay made much better films by 2050 as well.

Don't be fooled by the title of this article. A movie is reviewed when it is a movie. Love story2050 had NOTHING out of the two words and one numeral in its title. There was no love.. As for the 'story' part, we should be maintaing a 2 minute silence for the death of it.
Harman Baweja, a very promising new comer.. someone who i was actually looking forward to, is a disappointment. I use the word 'disappointment' as I'm bound by the limited expanse of my vocabulary. He had 'supposedly' been preparing for this movie for 3 years! Poor lad must have totally lost track of time, caught up in the element of the movie.
He can't act even his life depended on it.
As for Priyanka Chopra, I think she's madly in love. Because i cant imagine ANY other goddammingly sane reason why she would do this movie.
I just hope her love for Harman doesn't fade away as easily as the movie did.
After the success of Krishh, i'd thought hindi cinema had come of age in the science fiction genre.
Apparently, i was wrong. The technologies shown in the movie, are childish, unimaginable and plain silly.
As for the fact that the movie took 3 yrs to make, i wouldn't brag about it if i was the producer.. Or the director.. Or anybody related to it.. There is NOTHING in the movie worth even 3 months of effort.. The lousy plot could well enough be shot in 3 days flat.
I still don't know why i went for the movie. Zombies must have taken over me.. or some sort of alien abduction that befuddled my mind.. Or merely the fact that me and my boyfriend were broke that day and the only show at Vishal was Love Story2050.
May nobody ever go through the hellish torture we did that day!

I hv seen love story 2050 on 4th of july itself as i was so curious 2 c Harman & i wud lyk 2 tel dis 2 evry1 who r criticising him by saying dat he is d replica of Hritik bt did all those ppl knw evn 2 copy a legend lyk Hritik its takes lots of hard work as its nt possible 2 copy Hritik's dance steps bt Harman did it.In my opinion its nt fair 2 take away his hard work 4m him who he has put in dis movie.He is sm1 2 luk 4ward 2 in d future coz in r b-town thr r vry few stars who can dance lyk Harman.He acted vry wel,he luked smashing,awesm luking.Dnt jst write him off by constantly comparing him 2 Hritik.Film was bit let down as far as story line is concerned bt u cnt take away nythng 4m Harman.He is very talented,gr8 dancer & a gr8 actor. -- Khushi Tandon
