In an interview with Times Of India, the Reporters actress opened up about her character in the series and said that she came on board because the script interested her. "I have never been part of a costume drama before. I have watched the first 'Chandrakanta' as a child, but nostalgia isn't the reason I am taking it up. I found the script interesting. The central character is not only a beautiful woman, but she's also a fighter and has a sense of purpose," she told Times Of India.

Kritika Kamra made her television debut with 2007's Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar and has also featured in shows like Ganga Kii Dheej, Ek Thhi Naayka, Reporters and Pyaar Ka Bandhan. She has also hosted reality TV show MTV Webbed 2 and participated in Zara Nachke Dikha and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa.
