:Chang wins Jhalak Dikhla Jaa
Marischa Fernandes, choreographer for
Meiyang Chang, who was crowned winner of the fourth season of
hit dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa
, said that the
singer-actor was not confident of his dancing skills.
"Chang was not confident of being a dancer since he
was new to it. He used to feel that he looked stupid on stage. I
had to build his self-confidence and keep pushing and
motivating him. After judges discovered the potential in
him, we started getting good marks and he became better,"
Marischa told PTI.
The 27-year-old choreographer said she had difficulty
teaching the moves to Chang as he was a non-dancer.
"The journey has been a tough one. Initially, I had
problems to make him learn dance, but as we progressed there
was improvement. The moment the music was on, he would
dance. He started doing his own moves. But I must admit he is
a good student. I just had to keep patience with him,"
On tough competitors, Marischa said, "Obviously, as
Sushant was performing brilliantly he was a competitor. I feel
choreographer Savio was also our tough competitor but he did
not get more time with his celebrity partner Mahi for
rehearsals this time. Last year, Savio was too good with Hard
About her future plans, Marischa said, "I am open to
anything be it films or anything. Dance is a passion."
Chang, a professional dentist-turned singer-actor and
now a dancer, won the coveted title after beating "item girl"
Yana Gupta and TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput of the Pavitra
The winning duo bagged a cash prize of Rs 25 lakh each.
