Crime Patrol Actor Kamlesh Pandey, 38, Allegedly Shot Himself

New Delhi: Actor Kamlesh Pandey, best-known for his work on TV show Crime Patrol, allegedly shot himself in Jabalpur, news agency PTI reports. Local police said that Mr Pandey, 38, allegedly killed himself over a domestic issue. "Kamlesh Pandey pumped a bullet in his chest at his relative Anjani Chaturvedi's place in Sanjeevani Nagar Colony yesterday," area inspector Sanjay Bhalawi told PTI. The actor was allegedly drunk and objected to a wedding arranged in the family. "Mr Pandey came to Ms Chaturvedi's house in an inebriated condition and opposed the proposed marriage of his niece as he was having some reservation against the boy with whom the girl is to tie the knot," the inspector said.

When a heated debate followed, Kamlesh Pandey, who was armed, allegedly fired into the air and then shot himself, the police told PTI. He was rushed to a hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead.

According to sources close to the family, Mr Pandey raised his niece and was upset about the wedding. It's not clear what reservations he had about the groom-to-be.

Kamlesh Pandey has acted in the serials Kaala Teeka, Yeh hai Mohabbatein and Tashan-e-Ishq. On Crime Patrol, he played the role of a cop.

Popular TV series Crime Patrol is based on real life incidents and is currently on its fourth season. The show debuted in 2003 and returned with fresh seasons owing to its popularity. The current season of Crime Patrol started in 2011 and is hosted by actor Anoop Soni.

Apart from Crime Patrol, Kamlesh Pandey has also featured in serials like Kaala Teeka, Yeh hai Mohabbatein and Tashan-e-Ishq.
