From space, the final frontier, comes this simple tribute to late actor Leonard Nimoy, best-known and loved for playing Mr Spock in sci-fi series Star Trek. American astronaut Terry Virts tweeted this photo of the Vulcan parted-finger salute from on-board the International Space Station. Mr Nimoy's hometown of Boston can be spotted out of the window, says NASA.
Leonard Nimoy invented famous salute while creating the role of the half-human, half-Vulcan Mr Spock. The salute is accompanied by the spoken blessing 'live long and prosper.' Mr Nimoy played starship Enterprise officer Spock opposite William Shatner as Captain Kirk in the original Star Trek TV series in the '60s. He reprised the role in the '70s series, its animated version, two episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and the film series, two of which he also directed.
Mr Nimoy died on February 27 at the age of 83.
