    Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has hit out at the UPA-appointed Governors who refused to be transferred to north eastern states like Mizoram. While appearing on a special show on NDTV, the minister who is from Arunachal Pradesh said those governors must "apologise to the nation."

    The anti-corruption officer at AIIMS, Sanjiv Chaturvedi, who was shunted out by the government for doing his job has got support from his colleagues at the renowned institute. A memorandum, signed by doctors at the premier hospital states that the officer proved to be "too hot to handle" for the health minister and was thus shown the door. It also says there is more to the government decision than meets the eye and that the real danger is the "manner of removal".

    After talks with the Centre, the chief ministers of Assam and Nagaland have agreed to initiate measures to de-escalate the tension at the border of the two states, where 15 adivasis or tribals from Assam have died in ethnic clashes with Nagas in the last one week.

    Peace in North-East - Is There a Long-Term Solution?

    A Central government note alleges that the current spate of violence along the Assam-Nagaland border began with a land dispute between two men - a Naga and an Assamese - which was fanned by social activists and politicians, with insurgent outfits in both states jumping in. The note blames the local Congress in the area of organising a huge protest and fuelling tensions when Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited. For now, 200 companies of central paramilitary forces are already deployed in the area to help control the situation from deteriorating further. This is an old dispute, from the time state borders were drawn. So we ask, what long-term solutions are possible for peace between states in the north-east?

    NDTV Exclusive - Aparna Sen on Her Role in Saradha

    Also on the show tonight, we speak exclusively to filmmaker and writer Aparna Sen in Kolkata. Ms Sen was interviewed by the Enforcement Directorate earlier this week for information on the Saradha chit fund, and its director Sudipta Sen who has been charged with large-scale embezzlement by floating ponzi schemes. Ms Sen was hired by the Saradha group as the editor of its periodical, Parama but Saradha's links with the ruling Trinamool Congress mean that all those associated with the group are also under intense scrutiny.
