Actor Anupam Kher is the new Chairman of FTII; he interacted with the media after the announcement on Wednesday. He said he would work with the students and the teachers of FTII and put in the best of his experience on the job.
Anupam Kher has been named the new chief of film training institute FTII, where there were massive protests last year over the appointment of small-time actor Gajendra Chauhan. The 62-year-old critically acclaimed actor has a vast repertoire of Hindi films, theatre as well as crossover projects. The appointment of Mr Chauhan, a small time actor best known for playing Yudhishthir in the TV version of Mahabharata, fueled protests by thousands of students at FTII or the Film and Television Institute of India.
