  • Baahubali 2 Hindi Is At Par With Any Khan Film: Producer

    Producer Shobu Yarlagadda, whose film Baahubali: The Conclusion releases on April 28, said that the film will have the biggest release in India at par with any Khan film. He added that S S Rajamouli's film will also hit across 1,000 screens in the US, the biggest for any Indian film. "It's getting bigger than what we planned. We are glad that it panned out this way," Mr Yarlagadda said.

    The National Film Awards were announced in New Delhi today and Akshay Kumar has won his first National Award for Best Actor for his work in the 2016 film Rustom. Rustom, based on the real life Nanavati case that led to the scrapping of the jury in India's legal system, starred Akshay as a naval officer accused of murdering his wife's lover. The 49-year-old star's omission from the Filmfare Awards Best Actor category prompted outrage recently - his National Award win is likely to pacify his fans. Rustom released to middling reviews last year but Akshay Kumar's performance was singled out for critical praise.

    Singer Chinmayi Sripaada, who is petitioning against rape threats, told NDTV that five years back, she was the first in India to file a complaint against online harassment. She said, "That time also Twitter didn't react on time and later I had to ask for help."
