The Film Certification Appellate Tribunal has directed the Censor Board to grant Lipstick Under My Burkha an 'A certificate' after 'voluntary and some additional cuts and deletions'
Lipstick Under My Burkha director Alankrita Shrivastava says the film is personal for her. "Although I haven't inhabited their (the four protagonists of the film)world, their story comes from a very personal space," she said.
At the trailer launch of this year's most controversial film, Lipstick Under My Burkha the actors of the film Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak Shah, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur spoke at length about women's rights. Producer Ekta Kapoor was asked quite a few times about the film's problems with the censor board and Pahlaj Nihalani to which gave some politically correct answers.
Bollywood actors and filmmakers showed up at the screening of Konkana Sen Sharma directorial debut A Death In The Gunj in Mumbai. Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Sudhir Mishra, Rajkumar Rao, Sidharth Roy Kapoor were spotted at the screening. A Death In The Gunj releases on June 2, 2017.
