"I had once asked him about a biography but he said that it may have some uncomfortable account which may hurt some people. He does not want that so, no one from our family is planning either biography of documentary at the moment," said Shashi Kapoor's son Kunal
Aseem Chhabra, in an interview with NDTV, spoke about his new book on veteran actor Shashi Kapoor, titled Shashi Kapoor: The Householder, the Star. "Shashi Kapoor was a reluctant actor. If he had a choice, he would've acted in plays only. But unfortunately, he got married early and his kids were born. He had to support his family. So he started taking films," said Mr Chhabra.
Actor Shashi Kapoor, who just celebrated his 77th birthday, will receive this year's Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India's highest honour in cinema. His nephew, actor Rishi Kapoor, told NDTV, "I don't think it's a delayed honour. Shashi Kapoor a visionary who did films that were ahead of their time."
Shashi Kapoor was one of the first Indian actors to achieve success in both Bollywood and parallel cinema and the multi-faceted star donned many hats in his over five-decade-long career.
