Stardust Awards 2017: Salman Khan's Sultan, Sonam Kapoor's biopic on the slain stewardess Neerja and Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil were big winners
Non-commercial films such as Masaan and Talvar also won accolades. Richa Chadha won the Editor's Choice Performer of the Year award for Masaan while Irrfan Khan received the same award for Piku. Meghna Gulzar, who made Talvar, received the Filmmaker of the Year award
Happy New Year, Queen, Highway and Haider were the major winners at the awards
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra took home two trophies each at the Stardust Awards.
The first awards for the season were the Stardust Awards and we were as excited to know who the winners would be as anyone else who enjoys movies. The result, however, wasn't very satisfying because it all turned out be rather confusing with most actors receiving an award in one category or the other.
While the Stardust Award ceremony left us feeling a bit disoriented, with almost everyone taking a trophy back home, the fashion was less contrived with some clear winners emerging. Actress Jacqueline Fernandez, who walked out with the Best Style Icon trophy, was resplendent in red, though we wish she could have left her glittery trail back at home. Sonam Kapoor lived up to her fashion conscious image in stunning Eli Saab Couture, while Deepika Padukone was pretty but predictable in a pink Christian Dior gown.
