As actor Alia Bhatt launches a campaign to create awareness for animals and humans to co-exist in the ecosystem, she speaks to NDTV on the issues that concern her. Considering she is close to Karan Johar's twins, who were conceived through surrogacy, the opinionated actor reflects on the new proposed law on surrogacy that has stricter rules for those wanting to opt for it. Alia says through her interactions with the twins, she has seen the benefits of the process. Reacting strongly to the proposed law, she says it is unfair.
Filmmaker Karan Johar, who recently became a father to twins - Roohi and Yash, said that it is an overwhelming time for him. The 44-year-old director said it took him a while to adjust to the 'big change' in his life. "I think it is a beginning of a new love story in my life," said Karan Johar.
In an interview with NDTV, filmmaker Farah Khan was asked about surrogacy and she said: "I would have been happy if they had given good enough reasons why this bill is going to be passed. The reasons that were given were not good enough - that it's a fashion? I don't think any woman is doing it for fashionable reasons."
Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is expecting her first child with husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, said: "I think every human being has the right to have a family. If there are some unfortunate people who can't, or some people who choose to (via surrogacy), I think they have a right to that."
