Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, popularly known as KCR, has said his government would not buy paddy from farmers this Rabi season, citing the Central government's refusal to buy parboiled rice from farmers in the state.

The BJP would undertake a series of programmes in the coming months in Telangana to raise issues of farmers and to strengthen the party in the run-up to simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly polls in 2019, its state president K Laxman said today.

The day-long shutdown called by the opposition parties in Telangana over farmers' issues today evoked partial response in the state.
