Hamari Adhuri Kahani has well-etched characters but it's cliched and archaic

If you were hoping that animation films would come of age with this purported epic, you are in for a disappointment. Though the characters from the Mahabharat have faces and voices of the biggest stars, the images do not add up to a compelling canvas. Not by a wide margin.

Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has reportedly been approached by Southern filmmaker R Sarath to play Charlie Chaplin. Mr Sarath was quoted as saying in an interview to a publication, "It's been 100 years since Charlie Chaplin first appeared on screen and I wanted to honour him. The Hindi film with Vidya is not a biopic but a serious piece of fiction with lots of smiles and tears."
Actress Vidya Balan's recently released film Hamari Adhuri Kahani has tanked at the box office but her characteristic laugh is very much in place. Vidya said that there are no sour grapes about other leading ladies' stellar success. "There's enough sunshine for all of us to bask in," she said.
After Hamari Adhuri Kahani's failure at the box office, writer Mahesh Bhatt said that "there are many 'Indias' in one India and filmmakers must be allowed the freedom to make films for as many 'Indias' that we think exist."
In her review of Mohit Suri's 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani', critic Anupama Chopra said that the film is 'archaic, regressive and blatantly absurd'. She gave the film, starring Vidya Balan and Emraan Hashmi two-star rating.
